What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)?

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is the technical name for consistent worry that interferes with daily functioning. Persons with GAD will find themselves worrying about anything and everything throughout the day. This worry will interfere with their ability to enjoy their lives. 

 

Symptoms of GAD may include:

 

  • fatigue

  • irritability

  • restlessness

  • exhaustion/fatigue

  • difficulty sleeping

  • difficulty concentrating

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are generally considered to be the most effective treatments for GAD. These treatments will be aimed at helping you to understand and break the cycle of worry and redirect your focus on things that are more important and meaningful in your life.
